Matthew Perry's Mother Reveals Haunting Conversation Prior to His Passing
Matthew Perry's mother, Suzanne Morrison, is sharing her poignant memories of her final moments with her beloved son.
Morrison, who had Matthew with ex-husband John Bennett Perry, sensed a significant change in the Friends actor leading up to his tragic passing on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
"He went through a period, interestingly enough, just before he died when he was showing me one of his new houses," she revealed during an interview with Savannah Guthrie. "He came up to me and he said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now. And I’m so...’ It was almost as though it was a premonition or something."
Reflecting on that moment, Morrison admitted, "I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve had a conversation like that?’ It’s been years."
She expressed that there was an "inevitability" regarding what would happen next in Matthew's life and that he felt it deeply.
During the interview, which aired on the first anniversary of Perry's death, Morrison shared some chilling last words from her son: "He said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore,’” she recalled. “And it worried me."

Perry's half-sister,Caitlin Morrison, also recently reflected on her brother's legacy. She described him as someone who could light up any room: "When people were in a room with him, he had this magnetic energy. Everybody just had a smile on their face and they clung to everything he said."
Caitlin is dedicated to continuing Matthew's legacy through The Matthew Perry Foundation, which supports individuals struggling with addiction. She expressed how meaningful this work is for her: "The work that I'm doing now is very selfish because it kind of feels like I'm sitting right next to Matthew—working with him every day on something that was important to him."
Perry tragically passed away due to acute ketamine effects after being discovered in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home. Following his death, five individuals have been charged in connection with this incident.
The family released a heartfelt statement following his passing: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world as both an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
