Ethan Slater Breaks Silence on His Romance with Ariana Grande, Plus Other Latest Updates
The highly anticipated film adaptation of Wicked is not only generating excitement among fans but has also ignited a delightful off-screen romance between stars Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande. In a recent interview with GQ, published on October 30, Slater, 32, appeared visibly flustered when asked about his budding relationship with Grande, 31, during the filming.
“That's a really sweet question,” Slater responded with a smile. “That's really nice of you to ask. That's a really sweet question.”
Rumors of their romance began circulating in July 2023 after both actors ended their previous relationships. Slater and Grande portray Boq and Galinda/Glinda in the film adaptation of the Broadway hit. They have made it clear that they did not cheat on their former partners amid speculation surrounding their new romance.
“Obviously, it was a really super big year, and I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public,” Slater shared with GQ. “There were a lot of big changes in private lives that were really happening, so it's really hard to see people who don't know anything about what's happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love. So just to address that part of it, that feels really hard.”
“But, of course, it was an amazing year and a really beautiful thing, and I'm just really excited.”
Slater expressed immense pride in Grande's portrayal of the iconic Good Witch of the North:
“I'm just really, really proud of Ari and the work she's done on this,” Slater said. “She's poured herself into it. I'm really proud that I got to be there for that part of it, and I'm really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did.”
He further praised her comedic talent:
“She’s one of the best comedians that's been in a movie,” Slater described her performance as “genius.”
