Jurassic World: Rebirth actor Jonathan Bailey opens up about his relationship status and whether Bridgerton has helped him in his dating life.

By Jul 08, 2025 12:14 AMThe Jurassic World: Rebirth star seemingly revealed his single status when Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg asked if he was free to pursue romantically.“ I’m available,” Jonathan said on the July 4 episode of the web series. “It’s just, I think there’s a genetic predisposition.”And while he’s captured hearts onscreen, the 37-year-old—who publicly came out as gay in 2018—went on to note that he doesn’t think his work on Bridgerton has helped him with romance at all.“It’s a fantasy, isn’t it?” he explained about the Netflix series. “Romance is grounded and real.”Though Jonathan didn’t unveil any specific details on his dating life, he also alluded to being single last year when sharing his mindset on parenting with a potential partner.“I want to make sure I’m going to be present,” he told British Vogue in December. “I’m reading books on adoption. I might co-parent with a woman, but I’m thinking it will be with a man.”The Wicked actor’s peek into his dating life ended there, though, as he later shut down discussion about his relationship status, telling the outlet that he was “not discussing that.”Jonathan was, however, open about his experience as part of the LGBTQ+ community, including the difficulty he had when trying to come out to a group of friends in grade school.“It was a conversation I really, really wanted to have, to see if everyone else was on the same page,” he continued. “But everyone went quiet.”He also recounted a slight from a former teacher in those years, adding, “I was having trouble with my work and he said, ‘Well, if you weren’t so busy being a fairy you’d understand.’”Despite the tough moments, Jonathan has made sure to lean into his identity confidently."I reached a point where I thought, ‘F--k this,’” he told GQ in 2022, “I’d much prefer to hold my boyfriend’s hand in public or be able to put my own face picture on Tinder and not be so concerned about that than getting a part."
