Jennifer Lopez's Preparation for Her Big TV Return at AMAs 2025

Jennifer Lopez is gearing up for her big return to TV hosting at the 2025 American Music Awards. In an exclusive interview with E! News, Jennifer revealed she's been rehearsing for "a couple of weeks" and is excited about getting back into her performance mode.

"I took last year off and I went back in [and] my first thing was doing a movie," she explained. "So, this is getting back into my performance mode in a way."

Jennifer emphasized that she's looking forward to celebrating the music of the year at the event.

"We're going to be celebrating all the music of the year."

Jennifer, who first hosted the American Music Awards back in 2015, wouldn't provide any more "spoilers" on her upcoming performance. However, she shared that her creative process usually begins with throwing out ideas to her longtime creative director Tabitha Dumo.

"I tell her what I want to accomplish," Jennifer explained. "And then she comes with 1,000 ideas, and we sift through them and then we kind of wind up crafting exactly what I had in my mind."

Jennifer also noted that not all of her concepts end up entirely as they started, citing an example from her opening number for the ceremony.

"It evolves as well over time," she noted. "Over the past couple of weeks, [it] started here, and it's now—it's at a different spot."

Jennifer is not only excited about her own return to the stage but also thrilled to honor Janet Jackson with the Icon Award for her many achievements in the entertainment industry.

"I've been a fan of hers for so many years," Jennifer gushed. "I had the privilege to work with her early in my career as a dancer, and she's just wonderful and has influenced me so much."

Jennifer is also looking forward to watching Gloria Estefan celebrate five decades of her trailblazing contributions to music by performing at the event for the first time in more than 30 years.

"She was such a pioneer for Latin music, and Latin music is now having probably its biggest moment in history, as far as crossing over and taking over the global market," Jennifer said. "So, it's a perfect time to honor a pioneer like her."
